New Delhi: On the day when former Uttar Pradesh chief minister ND Tiwari finally accepted him as his biological son, Rohit Shekhar said on Monday that he wanted to spend time with his father and take care of him.
Talking exclusively to Zee Media Corp, Rohit said, “I was 11-year-old when my grandmother told me that ND Tiwari was my father. I didn`t know what was happening then.”
“Today he (ND Tiwari) has made a new beginning. I want to spend some time with him and take care of him,” he added. Meanwhile, talking to Zee Media Corp, Rohit`s mother Dr Ujjwala Sharma said, “My immediate objective was for the truth to prevail.” “Whatever he (ND Tiwari) has said in front of the media, he has to say it in front of the court also. Rohit should get the rights due to him as his (Tiwari`s) son,” she added.
Tiwari finally accepted Rohit as his son today putting an end to a prolonged legal battle on the issue. Addressing the media he said, “I accept him (Rohit) as my son. It was already proved two years ago when my DNA matched with his. I am proud of my association with this great family. Whatever it has been, I want to put the matter at rest and publicly accept him as my biological son," said Tiwari. Rohit had approached court against Tiwari in 2008, claiming he was born out of an affair between the Congress leader and his mother. In 2012, Mr Tiwari was forced to give samples of his DNA for a paternity test which established Tiwari as Shekhar`s biological father.
