New Delhi: Today is 148th birthday of Karl Landsteiner, discoverer of blood groups and Google celebrates this day with a wonderful interactive doodle.


The doodle graphics is in the form of a laboratory where Mr Landsteiner is standing next to a table that has microscope and four test tubes containing different types of blood groups. Each test tube is marked by rotating blood cell on the top of it. The two O's of the grey colored Google's logo highlights ace biologist and the test tubes in the foreground.


Karl Landsteiner was an Austrian and American biologist and physician born on 14 June 1868 in Vienna. In 1930 he was awarded with Noble Prize for his remarkable discovery for the major types of blood groups A, B, AB and O in human beings.


He is also universally recognized as father of transfusion medicine.
