New Delhi: The Indian Premier League, 2016 (IPL) cricket matches have been the talk of the town ever since the series began till the time it concluded on May 29th, with Sunrisers Hyderabad emerging victorious.

However, more than anything else, it seems, it had a bigger and better run on social media with the conversations about the tournament clocking up a whopping 360 million people on Facebook!


As per the social media network, "With 360 million posts, comments and likes, this year's tournament drove the highest level of conversation Facebook has measured for any IPL season. The Facebook pages of the IPL and eight teams totalled over 140 million video views during the season.”


Undoubtedly, the most talked about cricketer was the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain, the most valuable player of the series and the highest run-scorer of the tournament, Virat Kohli, while the Gujarat Lions were the most talked-about team this season.


The video of Mandeep Singh, Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli of RCB indulging in an impromptu Bhangra was the most viewed video with up to seven million views!


During the course of the 50-day tournament, the "Indian Premier League Facebook Page" gained over two million fans to 18.3 million.


The Kolkata Knight Riders was the top IPL team on Facebook with over 14 million fans who watched the exclusive video series with the #InsideKKR tag on the platform.
