With this new update, WhatsApp can now support up to 256 users in a group. Earlier, a user can add only 100 people in a group chat.

The development comes days after the popular mobile messaging app announced that it now had more than 1 billion monthly active users.

For now, the new update is only available to iOS and Android app users. However, it should also reach other platforms like Blacberry and Windows soon.
