Aizawl: Officials from Mizoram today identified 1,111 Brus as bona fide residents of Mizoram and cleared them for physical repatriation from the Khakchangpara relief camp in North Tripura.

Earlier, 3,849 Brus belonging to 578 families were identified as residents of Mizoram at Asapara relief camp, the first camp where identification was conducted since November 2 and completed on November 5.


With this, 4,960 Bru refugees have so far being identified in the two relief camps.


Identification of Brus would be conducted at Hamsapara on Wednesday and Thursday.


Mizoram government proposed to repatriate around 3,445 Bru families from six relief camps in Tripura and the physical repatriation is scheduled to start from November 30.
