Jaipur: Ashes of VHP leader Ashok Singhal, who died last week, were immersed at 160 places in Rajasthan including Galta Tirth in Jaipur on Wednesday.

A procession was held from the VHP office to Galta Tirth and the ashes were immersed at Galta kund in the presence of several VHP members, amid chanting of Vedic mantras.


"The ashes were immersed at 160 places in the state," VHP leader Kishori Lal said.


Singhal died on November 17 at a private hospital in Gurgaon.


The 89-year-old firebrand leader dedicated his life for the Hindutva cause adopting an aggressive style and played a key role in mobilising support for the Ram Janambhoomi as well as the Ram Setu movements.
