Puducherry: Chief Minister N Rangasamy on Sunday said his government was firm that no industries polluting sub soil water and the environment will be permitted in the Union Territory.

"If the sub soil water is disturbed everything would go awry and hence the government had brought out a firm policy to prevent setting up of water intensive and pollutant industries here," he told reporters here on the sidelines of a World Water Day function.


He said that Puducherry region depended on underground water for drinking water supply and to meet the irrigation requirements of the farmers.


He urged the people to judiciously use the water as it was most essential ingredient for healthy living.
