Islamabad: At least two Pakistani soldiers were killed and another injured when militants attacked a vehicle belonging to security forces in the restive North Waziristan tribal region, media reports on Tuesday said.
The military vehicle was targeted in the areas between Kajori and Ippi villages in Mirali tehsil. The Dawn quoted military sources as saying that two soldiers were killed and one injured in the ambush.
The security forces` convoy was fired upon from an elevated position.
However, no official was available to confirm the incident. Security personnel cordoned off attack site as a search for the attackers was underway, the Dawn said.
Pakistan army has killed at least 376 suspected militants in more than two weeks of offensive.
According to military, 17 soldiers have been killed during the ongoing operation.
North Waziristan is one of Pakistan`s seven semi-autonomous tribal regions along the Pak-Afghan border and is one of the strongholds of Taliban militants.
