Washington: All you need is a 3D printer to built and gift an entire space fleet to your child on his/her upcoming birthday.
As part of its education and outreach efforts, the US space agency has released 22 printable models of NASA and European space probes, asteroids and planetary landscapes for space enthusiasts. The NASA 3D models are for free and are printable on any desktop 3D printer using plastic filaments.
The models include 3D representations of unmanned spacecraft, asteroids and planetary surfaces. Many of the models, available on NASA website, are adaptations from other purposes.
According to NASA, a bit of trial and error may be needed to configure them so they will print properly.
The models on offer were made by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Ames Research Center, Johnson Space Center, Goddard Space Flight Center, Ball Aerospace, and Caltech, the US space agency said in a statement.
