Chennai: Police Wednesday booked senior state Congress leaders, including former TNCC President E V K S Elangovan for alleged unlawful assembly and criminal intimidation.

The case was registered on a complaint from state President of Tamil Nadu Pradesh Youth Congress, J Vijay Elanchezhiyan, police said.


He had alleged that Elangovan had intimidated him and issued threat while having a discussion with his colleagues at TNCC headquarters, Satyamurthy Bhavan on Tuesday, a City Police release said.


The case was filed under different sections of IPC like Section 143 (Unlawful Assembly) and?506 (ii) (Criminal Intimidation) against Elangovan, TNCC spokesperson A Gopanna, party's North Chennai district secretary N Rangabashyam and four others, it said.
