"Amma is doing well and will come back to resume her 'makkal pani' (people's duty) very soon," she told reporters outside Apollo Hospital where Jayalalithaa is being treated since September 22.

Meanwhile, state ministers and the AIADMK cadre continued to organise special poojas at various temples across the state for the speedy recovery of their party supremo.

Former Congress MLA Yasodha, veteran actress Saroja Devi and South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce vice-president Kalyan were among those who visited the hospital today to enquire about Jayalalithaa's health condition.

"She is a great lady. She will return home and meet the people. I spoke to the doctors and was told by them that she was recovering," Saroja Devi said.

Jayalalithaa, initially admitted for fever and dehydration, was being treated for an infection with respiratory support among others.

In the last medical bulletin issued on October 21, the hospital had said she was "interacting and progressing gradually".
