All about Samajwadi Party`s first family
Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav is trying hard to play a peacemaker between his son Akhilesh Yadav and his brother Shivpal Singh Yadav.
Lucknow: The battle for supremacy between Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and his uncle and state unit chief Shivpal Singh Yadav has exposed the slugfest in the Uttar Pradesh's ruling Samajwadi Party.
The “chacha-bhatija” feud has given Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav a headache ahead of crucial Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections.
The SP chief is making umpteen efforts to ‘show’ that the family remains united.
Have a look at the family tree of Mulayam Singh Yadav:
Mulayam Singh Yadav: Samajwadi Party chief and Lok Sabha MP from Azamgarh
Shivpal Singh Yadav: Mulayam’s younger brother and now the State party president. Officially the number two man in the Samajwadi Party, Shivpal is believed to have control over party’s rank and file. Engaged in power tussle with nephew Akhilesh, Shivpal has the support of Mulayam. He is close to Amar Singh, who returned to the party recently.
Ram Gopal Yadav: Mulayam Singh Yadav’s cousin and a Rajya Sabha member. Ram Gopal Yadav is said to be siding with Akhilesh in the ongoing feud within the SP. He is believed to be a part of the party think tank. He is a staunch opponent of Amar Singh.

But the Chief Minister reinstated his uncle after Mulayam Singh intervened and brokered a truce that did not last too long.
Dimple Yadav: Akhilesh’s wife and Lok Sabha MP from Kannauj.
Prateek Yadav: Mulayam’s younger son, born to his second wife Sadhna Gupta. Prateek, a wrestler, has decided to stay out of politics. He runs a fitness gym and real estate business.
