The Moradabad district administration has denied permission to Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi from holding road show in the city on Monday, citing security risk to VIP as the prime reason.
Lucknow: The Moradabad district administration has denied permission to Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi from holding road show in the city on Monday, citing security risk to VIP as the prime reason.
'The route provided by the district Congress committee was rejected due to the various security reasons and since then, no alternate route plan was submitted have at the office of the district magistrate," SSP, Moradabad Nitin Tiwari told TOI.
"The tall buildings along the route pose a security threat to the VIP. A unanimous decision was taken by the district security committee, SPG officials and the other intelligence officers that the permission for the road show be denied," Tiwari added.
This is not the first time when Gandhi's election campaign in Moradabad has hit a roadblock. Earlier, Gandhi's roadshow, scheduled to be held on September 28 in the city was called off after the 'shoe attack incident' and the district Congress committee had then announced that his road show would be held on October 3.
Earlier today, the Twitter handler of Rahul Gandhi shared the today's schedule of his Kisan Yatra in Moradabad, Amroha and Hapur.
Gandhi is on a 2,500-km 'kisan yatra' across Uttar Pradesh, covering 223 of the 403 assembly constituencies in the run-up to the assembly polls due next year.
