Election Commission to review poll preparedness in West Bengal today
Ahead of the second phase of polling in West Bengal, a full bench of the Election Commission will come to the city on Thursday.
Kolkata: Ahead of the second phase of polling in West Bengal, a full bench of the Election Commission will come to the city on Thursday.
Officials said during the day-long visit to the city, the EC bench will review poll preparedness in the state for the second phase of polling in 56 Assembly constituencies on Sunday.
Led by Chief Election Commissioner Nasim Zaidi, the full bench will meet district and police officials, state Chief Electoral Officer Sunil Gupta as well as leaders of different political parties.
The team will also take note of the complaints received so far from political parties in the first phase of polls which was divided in two parts and held on April 4 and April 11.
Officials said the EC will also review the deployment of security forces in the state.
In the second phase, voting will be held in six north Bengal districts - Alipurduar, Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling, Uttar Dinajpur, Dakshin Dinajpur and Malda besides Birbhum.
