Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday condoled the death of eminent writer Mahasweta Devi, saying the state has lost "a glorious mother".

"India has lost a great writer. Bengal has lost a glorious mother. I have lost a personal guide. Mahashweta Di rest in peace," Banerjee posted on Twitter.
