South Bengal districts reel under severe heatwave
Kolkata and its neighbouring areas also reeled under intense heat with the day temperature rising to 40.6 degrees.
Kolkata: The districts in South Bengal continued to reel under severe heatwave condition with Bankura recording the highest day temperature of 44.5 degrees Celsius, even as the Met department forecast similar weather conditions in the coming few days.
Bankura recorded the highest day temperature of 44.5 Deg C, while the mercury touched 42.5 Deg C at Burdwan, Asansol and Sriniketan, according to the Met department.
Kolkata and its neighbouring areas also reeled under intense heat with the day temperature rising to 40.6 degrees.
Heatwave conditions are likely to prevail over Kolkata, Purulia, Bankura, Birbhum, Burdwan, Nadia, Howrah, Hooghly, West Midnapur, North 24 Parganas and South 24 Parganas districts of West Bengal for the next two days, the weather office said in its forecast.
