Kolkata: Leader of the Opposition in West Bengal Assembly, Surjya Kanta Mishra, today filed his nomination for Nrayangarh Constituency under West Midnapore district where elections will he held on April 11.

With Mishra, altogether 36 candidates have filed their nominations so far for the first and second part of the first phase polls on April 4 and 11 respectively, Deputy CEO Amit Jyoti Bhattacharya told PTI here.


Accompanied by his supporters and party colleagues, Mishra, the CPI(M) state secretary, today reached the office of the SDO, Kharagpur, and filed his nomination for Narayangarh seat from where he was elected in 2011.


Of the 36 nominations filed so far, 18 were from West Midnapore district, followed by 10 in Purulia district and eight in Bankura district, Bhattacharya said.


Of them 14 candidates were from the CPI(M), two each from CPI and Trinamool Congress, three independents and 15 from other registered political parties, he added.
