Bizarre video: `River of hail` runs through Arabian desert
Notably, at one point, the individual capturing the rare phenomena on his phone reaches into the streaming material and comes up with a handful of sand.
New Delhi: In a bizarre incident, a river - apparently not full of water- but with sand and pebbles was recently seen gushing through the Arabian desert.
The 'river of hail' was captured in a video and was uploaded on YouTube by Latina News TV.
The clipping has been reportedly recorded in Saudi Arabia’s Empty Quarter, the largest contiguous sand desert in the world.
Notably, at one point, the individual capturing the rare phenomena on his phone reaches into the streaming material and comes up with a handful of sand.
Speculation as to what the “river” actually is ranged from a flash flood carrying sand and other material to simply hailstones mixed with sand flowing atop a preexisting waterway. Whatever it is, it brings new meaning to the term “quicksand.”
