Jakarta: The deaths in landslides and floods on June 19 in Indonesia`s Central Java province have risen to 56, while 22 persons were injured and nine still missing, an official said on Thursday.

About 395 villagers have moved to safe shelters as the natural disasters damaged over 143 houses and scores of infrastructure facilities, Xinhua news agency reported. 


A rescue operation involving soldiers, police, volunteers, and those from local search and rescue office is underway, the official added. 


Heavy rainfall triggered landslides and floods in the province on Saturday.
