The 19th century basilica is located in Nantes, a city in western France.

The fire started just after the completion of morning Mass. All the people and worshippers present were evacuated and around 40 firemen took charge.

The incident is being linked to the waterproofing work that was in progress on the roof of the building but there has been no confirmation yet about the actual cause of fire.

This basilica is dedicated to brothers Saint Donatien and Saint Rogatien, who were martyred for refusing to renounce their faith.
