The accident happened around 2.20 pm near a check-in counter in Terminal 2, when what appears to be a homemade explosive blew up, Xinhua news agency quoted an official as saying.

Earlier it was reported that fire crackers caused the explosion.

The injured were receiving treatment at a local hospital.

One of the injured sustained a severe neck injury. An initial investigation found evidence suggesting that the man's injury could have been self-induced.

The other injured include a Philippine man, 53, as well as a 67-year-old man and a 64-year-old woman both Chinese nationals. They sustained injuries to their heads, hands and legs, a doctor said.
