Washington: Pakistan Army Chief General Raheel Sharif on Wednesday raked up the Kashmir issue in his meeting with US Secretary of State John Kerry, his spokesman said.

Gen Sharif "highlighted (the) need for resolution of Kashmir," said ISPR spokesman Director-General ISPR Lt-Gen Asim Bajwa in a series of tweets after the visiting Pakistan army chief met Kerry at the Foggy Bottom headquarters of the State Department.


Regional security including Afghanistan, India, was discussed during the meeting, Bajwa said referring to the issues discussed in the meeting.


According to Bajwa, Kerry acknowledged Pakistan's contributions in the fight against terror.


Gen Sharif, highlighted Pakistan's perspective on regional security and supported Afghanistan-led reconciliation process, the challenges and the way forward.


He reiterated Pakistan's desire to solidify US-Pakistan relations based on mutual interest and respect, Bajwa said.
