Philadelphia: Observing that Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump would lose his bet on "selling fear" and scaring people, US President Barack Obama had on Thursday pitched for his former secretary of state Hillary Clinton as his successor in the White House.

At the same time, his eyes moist with tears, Obama at Democratic national convention was a picture of poise and maturity as he recalled being "so young that first time in Boston" addressing the gathering 12 years ago.


Before his speech a video introduced Obama at the convention which was 10-minute long retrospective.


The video traces Obama's journey in the White House and takes the viewer back to the initial months, which were difficult, to more recent accomplishments, such as the US-Iran nuclear deal.
