New Delhi: Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has time and again stepped forward for noble causes. This time, he has lent his support to the families of 12 martyrs. The 49-year-old actor has reportedly donated Rs 1.08 crore to help the families of Sukma attack martyrs.

Central Reserve Police Force on Thursday took to Twitter to thank the 'Airlift' hunk for his contribution. "Akshay Kumar actor a true Patriot stnds with bereaved families of 12 #ShaheedsOfSukma & donates 09 Lac each. CRPF salutes noble gesture," CRPF tweeted.


12 CRPF personnel were killed and four injured in an ambush by the rebels in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh on Saturday. 



The ambush took place in a forested patch near Kottacheru village under Bhejji police station, around 500 km from the state capital, at 9.15 am when 112 personnel of the CRPF's 219th battalion were on a road opening duty.
