New Delhi: Karan Johar marks his 45 birthday today and we want to take a moment to appreciate the witty, honest and unapologetic man that he is.
Karan who has many-many feathers in his hat, after being a successful director and making a grand debut into the movie business with 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hain' he shut everyone who said he was only here only because of his father.
The 'Ae Dill Hain Mushkil' director then made several movies that have still managed to stay with us after so long.
On his 45 birth anniversary, we bring you some of the most iconic roles he gave us through his movies:
'Poo' from 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham'
Kareena Kapoor Khan as 'Poo' was literally a treat to the eyes. This character from 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham' still happens to be one of the most savage characters ever written. With her quirky comebacks, her all-pink room, and the several 'Poo' dialogues have managed to stick around till now. Every 90s girl wanted to be like 'Poo' thanks to Karan Johar.
'Sexy Sam' from 'Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna'
Amitabh Bachchan, who played the role of 'Sexy Sam' and father to real life son Abhishek Bachchan was one of the saving grace of the movie. His character was funny, sarcastic and a true playboy. He brought the fun element to an otherwise very serious movie and had us rooting for him the entire time.
'Rizwan Khan' from 'My Name Is Khan'
The essence of the movie lied in the innocence that Rizwan Khan brought on the screen. A character played by Shah Rukh Khan made us laugh, cry and fall in love with him. His struggle to meet the president of The United States, coping with the loss of his family and the journey of a man trying to prove that he is not a terrorist - Rizwan was one character that stayed with us long after the movie was over.
'Saba' From 'Ae Dil Hain Mushkil'
The Sufiness and charm that Saba' played by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan brought to the screen was so immense, that it made eyes pop out in awe. With her poetry and unmissable charm, Saba was one of the most iconic characters written by Karan.
'Dean Yogendra Vashishth' from 'Student Of The Year'
Rishi Kapoor as ' Dean Yogendra Vashishth' in 'Student Of The Year' was immensely appreciated. Rishi Kapoor was meant to play the character who was in an awe of the football Couch in the school.
The director-producer of Dharma Production is also the host of a very popular show called 'Koffee With Karan' which is all about spilling beans about celebrities' private and personal lives.
He has also been a part of reality shows like 'Jhalak Dikhla Ja' and 'India's Got Talent'.
