Apple goes solo, plans to launch its car without any auto partner: Report
iPhone maker Apple is in the process to develop its own autonomous electric four-wheeler without the assistance of any other automaker.
Apple car launch date
Reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo earlier claimed that the launch of the Apple Car is unlikely to happen until 2025-2027. Kuo also said that Apple Car specifications are yet to be finalised. He also added that it would not be a surprise if the vehicle’s launch time frame is pushed even further to 2028 or later.
Apple going solo for its upcoming car
According to Maeil Economic Daily (via MacRumors), Apple is currently in the process of selecting a final parts supplier. BMW, Hyundai, Nissan and Toyota were earlier contacted by the tech giant to explore joint development and contract production agreements.
Seeking approvals for Apple car
Apple has also gone through the process of sending a Request for Information (RFI), Request for Proposal (RFP), and Request for Quotation (RFQ) to global automobile part manufacturers.
Apple brings new engineers on board
Two former Mercedes engineers with a lot of experience in Mass Production of vehicles, steering, dynamic, software and project management were recently hired. These engineers are now working as product design engineers at Apple`s Special Projects Group, hired presumably for the ‘Apple Car’.
Apple’s current head of project leaving
Dough Field, the Current head of Apple’s electric car project is leaving the company for Ford. He is named as the company's chief advanced technology and embedded systems officer.
