In Pics: Meet the world's largest electric luxury cruise ship from China; gets 100km range

Yangtze River Three Gorges 1, the world's largest electric cruise ship recently made its maiden voyage in Yichang, Hubei province in China.

Yangtze River Three Gorges 1 is the only ship to achieve 'zero emissions' and is powered by a 7,500-kilowatt-hour marine battery. The ship gets an automatic control system and intelligent power management system.

The ship saves around 530 metric tons of fuel and has been built with an investment of $23.5 million by China's Yangtze Power Co., a subsidiary of Three Gorges Corp. and Hubei Three Gorges Tourism Group.

The luxury cruise ship can carry up to 1,300 passengers and is 100 metres long and 16 metres wide with all the ameneties. 

The ship will go into commercial operations in April 2022 and can run 100 km on a single change. It has performed multiple trials before entering the commercial service.
