WhatsApp rolled out some really cool features this year that enabled smoother and easier functionality for millions of its users world-wide. Though the instant messaging app has released a lot of features that got better with time, these are 6 Cool features that has wowed everyone in 2021.

WhatsApp has rolled out a new feature called 'View Once', that deletes photos and videos from the chat after they have been opened, giving users even more control over their privacy. For added privacy, you can now send photos and videos that disappear from your WhatsApp chat after the recipient has opened them once.

WhatsApp has added the ability for users to migrate their chat history when switching from iOS to Samsung Android devices. Previously, if users selected WhatsApp's cloud backup feature, then iOS chat histories were stored in iCloud, while Android's histories backed up to Google Drive, making it almost impossible to transfer chats between phones that weren't running the same operating system.

WhatsApp rolled out a feature that would allow users to link their account to secondary devices and continue to send and receive messages without the primary smartphone online. Previously, users had to make sure that their main smartphone was still connected to the internet before they could carry a conversation on your linked web browser.

WhatsApp introduced ‘Payments Backgrounds feature on the platform. Designed in partnership with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), on the Unified Payment Interface (UPI), the payments feature on WhatsApp is an India-first, real-time payment system that enables transactions with over 227 banks.

WhatsApp rolled out a new feature where the users can join a group video or voice call even after its started, and you see the participants in a video call screen the way you see on various communication apps. WhatsApp said that the ‘Joinable calls' reduce the burden of answering a group call as it starts, and brings the spontaneity and ease of in-person conversations to group calling on WhatsApp. If someone in your group misses a call when the phone rings, they can still join whenever they like. You can also drop-off and re-join so long as the call is still ongoing.

You can make free voice and video calls to your contacts on WhatsApp Desktop if you have the app installed on your computer. Desktop calling is supported on: Windows 10 64-bit version 1903 and newer; and macOS 10.13 and newer.
