Maha Shivratri 2021: These 7 things are not offered to Lord Shiva
Maha Shivratri also called the "the Great Night of Shiva" marks the celebration of Lord Shiva and Maa Parvati's marriage ceremony. The festival is celebrated each year on the 13th night and 14th day of the Hindu month Phalguna. This year Mahashivratri is on March 11.
Tulsi

According to the legend, Shiv ji and Parvati did not like Shankhachuda, Tulsi’s first husband. Shiv ji later killed him. So, you should never offer him Tulsi leaves.
Kumkum
Kumkum is not offered to Lord Shiva. Shiv ji is considered a recluse, therefore he is not offered Kumkum.
Broken Rice
According to scriptures, Lord Shiva is offered Akshat or whole rice. If the rice is broken, it is considered incomplete and impure, and therefore not fit to be offered to Shiv Ji.
Conch
Lord Shiva assassinated a demon called Shankhchud and he is believed to be considered a symbol of the same demon. Hence, conch is not used while worshipping Lord Shiva.
Kewda and Champa
Kewda and Champa flowers are believed to be cursed by Lord Shiva. Hence, you should never offer him these flowers.
Coconut water
Anything offered to Shiv Ji is considered as nirmalaya and therefore unfit to be consumed.
Haldi
Turmeric or Haldi is an ingredient that helps enhance one's beauty and since Lord Shiva is an ascetic, Haldi is not offered to him.
