The legendary TV host, who passed away in January 2021 aged 87, had contracted COVID-19 some time before his death. King was hospitalised and had received supplemental oxygen, according to news reports. However, later several news articles claimed that the virus was not the cause of his death, but rather it was sepsis. Reportedly, King's wife Shawn told Entertainment Tonight that he had recovered from COVID-19, but he died of sepsis as a complication.
