Sanjeevani Plant Existence: Those who have read epic Ramayana or watched a TV serial based on it, must have heard about the Sanjeevani booti. It was the same medicinal herb which was used to treat God Laxman and save his life. As per Ramayana, Lord Hanuman brought Sanjeevani from the Dronagiri Parvat. The mountain is located in present-day Uttarakhand and has been a big attraction for mountaineers. During the Ramayana era, Sanjeevani was found on this mountain and therefore, people still worry if the herb can still be found.

According to legend, during the battle between Lord Rama and Ravana, Lakshmana was rendered unconscious by Meghnath's divine weapon. To revive him, Hanuman came to Dronagiri mountain to fetch the life-saving herb, Sanjeevani. It is believed that Hanuman took a part of this mountain with him.
