Farmers' protest at Red Fort on Republic Day; see how events unfolded- In pics
Protesting farmers swarmed the Red Fort on Tuesday in New Delhi during a `tractor rally` on the Republic Day even as police tried to prevent them from driving towards central Delhi. Take a look at how the events unfolded at the monument in Delhi:

The farmers had barged into the premises of the Red Fort after deviating from their planned route for the tractor parade and hoisted flags at the iconic monument in the national capital.

Several police personnel were injured in the clash with the farmers
The farmers barged into the 17th century monument, climbed up its ramparts and waved farmer union flags and banners and even hoisted a pennant.

The protestors refused to move despite requests
After sometime, security personnel succeeded in removing the farmers from the fort ramparts, after which they had skirmishes with the police and also chased them that led to injuries to several farmers and policemen.

Some farmers protected the police from harm
In the meantime, a young farmer died near the ITO intersection in the central Delhi due to unknown reasons. Fellow farmers sat on protest on the spot along with the body of the deceased, who hailed from western Uttar Pradesh.

The protestors refused to listen to authorities
The police fired tear-gas shells and lathi-charged the protesters on different occasions as farmers remained adamant to move towards the Red Fort.

Police removed protesting farmers from Red Fort premises
Chaos reigned for nearly 90 minutes till the police had to lathi charge the protestors out of the premises. Continuous announcements were made requesting the farmers to leave prior to the lathi charge.

The farmers tried to hold their ground for as long as possible
Earlier, the farmers had deviated from the designated route for the proposed tractor parade against the new farm laws and moved toward Income Tax Office (ITO) in central Delhi.

Some agitated farmers continued to protest outside the Red Fort
Clashes broke out between police and protesting farmers after the latter reached ITO and tried to push towards Lutyen's Delhi, prompting the force to use lathicharge and tear gas shells against them.

Farmers guide police personnel to safety
Farmer leaders under the ageis of 'Samyukta Kisan Morcha' protesting against the three Central farm laws said on Tuesday that farmers of 32 unions from Punjab were following the routes for the tractor rally defined by the Delhi Police and they did not break the law and order.
