With Yogi Adityanath taking oath as the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister for the second consecutive term on Friday (March 25), the batch of ‘under 50’ CMs has now reached six. Here are the young CMs under 50 elected in the past two decades.

Yogi Adityanath (49) scripted history today as the monk-politician was sworn in for a second time after completing a full five-year term in Uttar Pradesh. Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel administered the oath to Adityanath in a grand ceremony in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and BJP national president J P Nadda and other high-profile guests.

Hemant Soren was 38-years-old when he became Jharkhand CM in 2013 after his father Shibu Soren passed on the leadership baton of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) to him.

National Conference leader Omar Abdulla in 2009 had become the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir at 38 years of age.

Akhilesh Yadav was 38 years old when he had taken oath as the Uttar Pradesh CM in 2012.
