Haryana Assembly Election 2024: 5 Key Constituencies To Watch Out For

The Garhi-Sampla-Kiloi assembly seat falls in the Rohtak district. The seat is among 17 Jat-dominated seats in central Haryana, known as 'Jat heartland'. It will play a crucial role in the polls as the state has around 25 percent of jats. Rohtak is a region dominated by the Congress party and the Hooda family in the past. Bhupinder Hooda served as Haryana's CM from 2005 to 2014.

 

The Congress has fielded Hooda from the constituency and he has been pitted against BJP's Manju Hooda. She is the sitting chairperson of the Rohtak Zila Parishad.

All eyes will be on the Julana Assembly seat in the upcoming Haryana Assembly polls as the Congress has fielded wrestler Vinesh Phogat from the constituency hours after she joined the grand old party along with grappler Bajrang Punia.

 

The Ladwa seat will be a crucial seat in the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections as the BJP has pitted CM Nayab Singh Saini against Congress's sitting MLA Mewa Singh who is currently the sitting MP from the constituency. CM Saini currently represents the Karnal Assembly seat.

Besides the Deswali belt, north Haryana districts such as Ambala, Kurukshetra, and Karnal also hold significance in the upcoming state assembly polls as they saw the farmers’ movement against the now-scrapped farm laws. CM Saini currently represents the Karnal Assembly seat.

Rewari is a key seat in the politics of south Haryana. The seat, dominated by the Yadav community, is currently represented by Chirajeev Rao. He is the son of Captain Ajay Singh Yadav, who was a six-time MLA from the seat.

 

The Gurugram Assembly seat is currently represented by BJP MLA Sudhir Kumar Singla. During the general elections held earlier this year, BJP’s Rao Inderjit Singh secured victory. He is among the most important faces in the region known as the Ahirwal Belt. The region also includes Mahendragarh and Rewari districts’ constituencies. Inderjit Singh is the son of Haryana’s second chief minister, Rao Birender Singh. 

The Ellenabad seat falls in Haryana's Sirsa district. Senior INLD leader and scion of the Chautala family, Abhay Singh Chautala, is currently the lone party MLA in the current legislative assembly. After failing to secure victory in the Lok Sabha elections from Kurukshetra against the BJP's Naveen Jindal, he is set to contest from the Ellenabad seat again in the coming state elections.
