India lockdown amid coronavirus COVID-19 scare: Day 53

On day 53 of the nationwide coronavirus COVID-19 lockdown, India's battle with the coronavirus pandemic continues as the number of positive cases jump to 90,927 which includes 53,946 active infections, 34,108 recovered cases, 1 migrant patient, and 2,872 deaths, as per the Health Ministry data. India recorded the highest surge in COVID-19 cases with 4987 new cases recorded in the last 24 hours.

A 23-year old mechanical engineer in Ahmedabad has made a solar-panel umbrella for the police personnel on duty under the scorching sun. The panel has a fan and also helps police personnel in charging their mobile phones as it has two USB charging points.

Noida metro has come up with COVID-19 guidelines for travelling inside the trains. Passengers should not sit on the marked seats in order to maintain social distancing. If required to travel in standing, the adequate distance by way of standing opposite the vacant seats to be maintained.

A sticker with a message "Ensure social distancing" being displayed at the entry/exit gates of the metro on the platform. Instructions will be displayed at the Platform to allow to deboard the passengers first and thereafter only to board the train maintaining adequate distance will be displayed. The crowd inside the train, as well as the station/platform, will be monitored through CCTV from OCC by Controllers/ Official on special duty. If more crowds are observed, entry at the station will be restricted through the screening team.

House keeping staff of hospital in Noida

On Sunday, they climbed to the 18th floor of the district hospital in Sector 39 and threatened to commit suicide. Their allegation was that they didn't get paid for the month of March from the contractor. City's magistrate Uma Shankar rushed to the spot and assured them that they will get their payments.
