The Jharkhand government on Wednesday (August 11) felicitated its Olympian woman hockey players Salima Tete and Nikki Pradhan. Amid a grand welcome, Chief Minister Hemant Soren persented the two players with gifts.

Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren handed the two hockey players over Rs 50 lakh each. Salima Tete and Nikki Pradhan will also be provided furnished houses, two-wheelers, laptops and smartphones, Soren said.

Speaking at the function, Soren said. "The girls are making us proud despite a lack of facilities such as roads, electricity, and water. It is our responsibility to look after their facilities and resources. The state government has decided to implement the dream of a residential sports centre which will be equipped with sports facilities for badminton, football, hockey and other sports," IANS reported.

Salima Tete (19) hails from Badkichapar village in Simdega district and Nikki Pradhan (27) from Hesal village in Khunti. The players were accorded a grand welcome by the state government at the airport with traditional music and dance.
