Karnataka is all set to go to polls on May 10 and the counting of votes will take place on May 13. The BJP and the Congress have already announced their election manifestos promising a number of freebies. 

Free Food Grain

Congress has promised 10 kg rice/month to each member of a family under Anna Bhagya scheme. The BJP has promised 5kg millets/Shri Anna per month per family and half a litre of milk every day to BPL families. The Congress has promised to increase milk subsidy from Rs 5 to Rs 7 per litre.

Free LPG Cylinder

The BJP has promised 3 free cooking gas/LPG cylinders to all BPL families annually. Congress has promised Rs 2000 per month to women under Griha Lakshmi scheme.

Uniform Civil Code

The BJP has promised the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) and National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Karnataka. It has also promised Karnataka State Wing against Religious Fundamentalism and Terror (K-SWIFT). Congress has been against the two controversial issues. 

Free Electricity

Under the Griha Jyoti scheme, the Congress has promised 200 units of free electricity to households. The BJP has not promised free electricity. The BJP promised 'Sarvarigu Suru Yojane' under which the Revenue Department will identify and distribute 10 lakh housing sites across the state to the homeless beneficiaries.

Youths And Graduates

The Congress has promised Yuva Nidhi of Rs 3,000/month for graduates and Rs 1,500 for diploma holders for 2 years. The BJP has promised to increase the scope of the Production Linked Incentive Scheme aimed at generating 10 lakh manufacturing jobs. It has also promised the launch of Samanvaya Yojane to drive collaboration between SMEs and ITIs to promote education and employment.

Freebies For Women

The Congress has also promised free bus travel for women in Karnataka. No such promise by the BJP. The BJP promised 'Onake Obavva Samajika Nyaya Nidhi' scheme through which it will provide a matching deposit up to Rs 10,000 on five-year fixed deposits made under the scheme for women of SC/ST households.

The Congress has promised Prakariti Vikopa Nidhi of Rs 5,000 crore in case of crop destruction. It has also promised MSP for coconut farmers & others. It also promised Rs 10 lakh insurance cover for fisherfolk and Rs 25 per litre subsidy for diesel up to 500 litres. The BJP has promised Rs 30,000 crore K-Agro Fund to establish micro-cold storage facilities besides setting up of 5 new Agro-Industry clusters and 3 new food processing parks.
