Morbi bridge collapse: PM Modi meets injured in hospital, visits tragic site - See pics

On Sunday (October 30), the suspension bridge above the Machchhu River in the Morbi district of Gujarat fell and over 135 people died in the tragedy.

Earlier on October 31, nine persons, including officials of Oreva, the company that renovated the bridge, ticket sellers and security men, were arrested for the Morbi bridge collapse in Gujarat.

On his visit to Gujarat's Morbi,  PM Modi met the injured victims of the incident at the Morbi Civic Hospital and inquired about their well-being. He will also meet the 26 family members of deceased in the tragedy

Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Morbi bridge to inspect the tragic collapse which led to the deaths of over 130 people including children.

Gujarat government announced the ex gratia amount for the affected families and injured in the Morbi bridge tragedy. Gujarat Disaster Management minister Rajendra Trivedi said the state government will give Rs 4 lakh to the kin of each deceased and Rs 2 lakh will be given from the PMNRF. Trivedi said the injured in the Morbi bridge collapse will receive Rs 50000 each.
