Mumbai Weather Forecast Update: Rain Brings Traffic Jam, Flooding, Chaos; City Braces For More Downpour

The meteorological department has issued an orange alert for today's rainfall in the city. However, they have clarified that the monsoon season has not yet officially begun in the Maximum City and is expected to arrive in approximately 48 hours. The Southwest Monsoon has further advanced into some more parts of Central Arabian Sea, some more parts of Maharashtra and more downpour is expected in Mumbai today.

Tragically, two sanitation workers lost their lives in a heartbreaking incident while clearing clogged drains in suburban Govandi. They accidentally fell into a manhole, prompting firefighters to swiftly rescue them. Despite their efforts, the workers could not be saved.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, Mumbai's civic body, reported that 11 trees were uprooted, and seven instances of short circuits were recorded during the rainfall, as stated in their evening statement. 

Another tragedy was narrowly averted when a security personnel promptly responded to save two children from drowning in the sea at Juhu.

Andheri, Malad, and Dahisar were among the areas most severely impacted by yesterday's rain. Social media posts shared visuals of individuals pushing cars through the flooded streets.

The traffic police had a hectic day managing the flooded streets and subways, leading to extensive traffic jams. They redirected vehicles to alternative routes to alleviate the situation.
