Prime Minister Narendra Modi met US President Joe Biden here on Friday (September 24) at the White House for a bilateral meeting, where they discussed several issues ranging from COVID-19 to Afghanistan.

The relationship between India and US, the two largest democracies in the world, is destined to be stronger, closer and tighter, US President Joe Biden said during the in-person meet with PM Modi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is visiting the US for the 7th time after assuming office in 2014, told US President Biden, "Your leadership will certainly play an important role in how this decade is shaped. The seeds have been sown for an even stronger friendship between India and the US."

PM Modi and US President Joe Biden hold first bilateral summit
PM Modi said, "President Joe Biden mentioned Gandhi Ji’s Jayanti. Gandhi Ji spoke about Trusteeship, a concept which is very important for our planet in the times to come." He also emphasised on trade between the two countries. "There is much to be done in trade. Trade will be an important factor in India-USA ties in the coming decade," he said in his opening remarks.
