Schools are reopening in states such as Haryana, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana from February 1. Check complete list below.
Madhya Pradesh
The Madhya Pradesh government has allowed reopening of schools for physical classes from February 1, 2022, with 50 per cent capacity. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has given go ahead for reopening of schools after consultation with medical experts.
West Bengal
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday (January 31, 2022) announced that schools for classes 8 to 12 and colleges in the state will reopen from February 3.
Maharashtra
The Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Saturday announced that the schools and colleges in Maharashtra's Pune district will reopen from February 1. In other parts of the state, schools for pre-primary to Class 12 students reopened last week.
Rajasthan
Schools will open for classes 10-12 from February 1 in Rajasthan and for classes 6-9 from February 10, the government said on Friday in its new COVID guidelines. Students will continue to have the option of online education, it said.
Haryana
Education Minister Kanwar Pal on Tuesday said schools for classes 10 to 12 will reopen in the state from February 1. "Universities, colleges, schools (for classes 10 to 12), polytechnics, Industrial Training Institutes, coaching institutions, libraries, training institutes, both government and private, are allowed to open from February 1 for physical classes," the order stated.
Karnataka
The Karnataka government allowed the schools and colleges in Bangalore to reopen from today. "From Monday, all classes will be operational in schools with the strict implementation of COVID-19 appropriate behaviour and protocol," said Education Minister BC Nagesh.
Tamil Nadu
Tamil Nadu government has allowed schools for classes 1-12, colleges and universities to reopened from February 1. Play schools, LKG and UKG classes will remain closed, the state government announced on Thursday (January 27, 2022).
Telangana
The Telangana government has allowed all government, private schools, colleges in Telangana to resume physical classes from February 1.
Tripura
The schools and other educational institutes in Tripura re-opened on Monday after the state government lifted the suspension of physical classes with strict maintenance of COVID-19 protocols. As per the fresh directives from the Tripura Education Department, classes have been resumed with full strength across the state and record attendance was registered on the beginning day after a gap of 20 days.
Other states
Meanwhile, the Delhi government said that schools, colleges and other educational institutions in the national capital will remain closed until further notice. Uttar Pradesh government also extended closure of schools and colleges in the state till February 6.
