If you’ve ever dreamed of owning a piece of history — and have a spare Rs 4,612,561,470 ($55 million) lying around — Queen Victoria’s favorite Tuscan villa could be yours. For the price of what some might call a ‘modest’ fortune, you can stroll through gardens mentioned in Italian literature, all while pondering the artistry of a time when luxury was the standard, not the exception. Dreamer Real Estate is handling the sale, according to a report from CNN.
Located on the outskirts of Florence, the villa spans over 4,000 square meters (43,000 square feet), with gardens covering nine hectares (22 acres). It’s one of the largest private parks in the city. Dreamer Real Estate has provided detailed information about this grand estate.
The villa dates back to the 14th century and was originally owned by the Fini family. In 1454, Matteo di Marco Palmieri acquired the property. Almost 300 years later, in 1760, the British Earl Cooper purchased it, bringing the estate into British hands.
Queen Victoria first visited the villa during this period. She stayed here in 1893, 1894, and even spent a full month in 1888. Mementos of her visits, such as nameplates, can still be found on trees in the garden, adding to the villa's historical charm. During her stays, Queen Victoria insisted on luxurious comforts. Her bed, along with other furnishings like two chairs, a sofa, and a writing table, were kept ready at all times. Only those she trusted were allowed to clean or touch them.
In addition to its royal connection, the villa offers modern amenities. The grounds feature a tennis court, a lush garden, and an ancient swimming pool. There's even a helipad for visitors who want to arrive in style. Inside, each of the 23 bedrooms and 19 bathrooms has its own unique interior design.
The villa's cultural significance runs deep, as it is said to be mentioned in Giovanni Boccaccio's famous literary work, ‘Decameron.’ The real estate company shared on Instagram, “Poets and painters have been inspired here for centuries. If Paradise could be made on earth, it would be here.”
With its rich history, artistic appeal, and royal connection, this Tuscan villa is truly a rare gem, offering a piece of paradise to its future owner.
