Delhi Capitals' Ishant Sharma

The Delhi-based pacer, Ishant Sharma, couldn't take part in his side's opening two fixtures. The 32-year-old fast bowler injured his back, right on the eve of their opening encounter against Kings XI Punjab on September 20.

The Capitals, though, didn't really miss his absence as they won their opening two encounters. Sharma returned in the Capitals' third game against SunRisers Hyderabad - which went in vain as the Capitals were handed their first loss of the tournament.

SRH's Bhuvneshwar Kumar

2/11

Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the latest victim in the SRH camp to go down with an injury in their game against CSK on October 2.

SRH's pace spearhead, Bhuvneshwar, was bowling his final over against CSK but was able to deliver only one ball of the 19th over as he started hobbling. He clutched his left thigh and was immediately tended to by the physios but still couldn't complete the over. Khaleel Ahmed completed the over as SRH won by 7 runs.

CSK's Dwayne Bravo

3/11

Chennai Super Kings missed the services of T20 superstar Dwayne 'DJ' Bravo for their first three games as the cricketer was out with a knee injury. Bravo was the purple cap winner in IPL 2015 and is a handy batsman lower down the order.

Over the yeras, CSK skipper MS Dhoni has successfully used the services of the West Indian cricketer in the death overs with Bravo catching the eye with his toe-crushing yorkers.

Bravo returned for CSK for their fourth match against SunRisers Hyderabad. He returned economical figures of 4-0-28-0 although his return went in vain as CSK lost their third succesive game.

Mumbai Indians' Ishan Kishan

4/11

Mumbai Indians youngster Ishan Kishan missed the first two games with an injury. Ishan Kishan immediately left his mark as soon as he came back into the side for their third outing. He mounted a fine counter-attack for his side against RCB with a magnificient 99 (off 58 balls; 4x2, 6x9). Although Mumbai Indians lost the match in a Super Over thriller but cemented his place in the side with his gritty knock. The 22-year-old followed it up with a 28 in the next game, which came in a winning cause.

CSK's Ambati Rayudu

5/11

CSK's Ambati Rayudu was crowned as the man of the match for a brilliant 71 off 48 balls in the IPL 2020 opener between Chennai and Mumbai Indians. However, during that match winning innings - Rayudu pulled his hamstring, a tad too much. He thus missed his side's next two games.

CSK, already in absence of Raina, desperately missed the services of Rayudu as they failed with the bat in their next two games - losing consecutive games on the trot.

SRH's Mitchell Marsh

6/11

Marsh, playing for SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH), suffered the injury in his side’s opening match of the tournament against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

Marsh bowling the fifth over of the RCB innings, had twisted his ankle on just the second delivery of the over. He managed to bowl two more deliveries but ultimately limped off the pitch with Vijay Shankar completing the Australian’s over. In SRH’s innings, Marsh only came in to bat at the number 10 slot but was dismissed on his very first ball where he was visibly limping.

On 23rd September, SunRisers announced the signing of West Indian all-rounder Jason Holder as the replacement for Mitchell Marsh.

Kane Williamson missed SRH's first two games

7/11

SRH's middle-order linchpin Kane Williamson missed his side's first two games with a niggle. No wonder that SRH failed to score big in those two games, thus losing those two encounters.

Williamson's return immediately coincided with SRH winning their first game by 15 runs against Delhi Capitals where the Kiwi skipper scored a rapid 41 off 26 balls.

Rajasthan Royals' Steve Smith

8/11

Australian talisman Steve Smith has joined Rajasthan Royals' on the training ground but it remains to be seen if he can take part in their opening encounter against Chennai Super Kings on September 22 owing to a recent concussion.

Smith was hit on the head on the eve of Australia's first ODI against England on September 11 and then did not take part in the entire three match series.

Kolkata Knight Riders' Harry Gurney

9/11

The English pacer Harry Gurney was forced out of IPL 2020 with a shoulder injury. It was announced late last month that he won't be joining the KKR squad for this edition and will also sit out of the Vitality Blast T20 tournament.

Representing KKR last season, He picked -up seven wickets in eight games.

Delhi Capitals' spinner Ravichandran Ashwin

10/11

After grabbing his first wicket off his very first ball as a Capitals' player, Ashwin sustained a freakish injury while trying to stop a single. The veteran off-spinner went immediately off the ground and looked in considerable pain. He could thus bowl only one over in the Capitals' opening match.

Even though he bowled just a single over, Ashwin picked-up two wickets against his former side Kings XI Punjab, to turn the tide in the Capitals' favor.

Ashwin is yet to feature in a game ever since even though Shreyas Iyer said in a press conference that he will be ready for their next game.

England opener Jason Roy: Opted out of Delhi Capitals squad

11/11

England, opening batsman Jason Roy pulled out of IPL 2020 because of personal reasons. He was scheduled to play for Delhi Capitals.

But the actual reason for the same could be a side strain injury that he sustained during training because of which he was also ruled out of the national side's recent three-match Twenty20I series against Pakistan.
