New Zealand finish the innings on 237/6 after being restricted to 46/4 at one stage. They were able to post a competitive score on the board after a shaky start, following a partnership of 132 runs between all-rounders Colin de Grandhomme and Jimmy Neesham. Pakistan need 238 runs to win. 

New Zealand have been restricted to 97/5 in 31 overs by Pakistan following a quality performance by the Pakistan bowling attack. 

Shaheen Afridi has picked his third wicket of the day as Tom Latham edges the ball to wicketkeeper Sarfaraz Ahmed following late swing, to leave New Zealand in trouble on 46/4.

Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed pulls off a brilliant catch to dismiss New Zealand veteran batsman Ross Taylor following an in-swinging delivery by Shaheen Afridi, who picks his second wicket of the match.

New Zealand have reached 22/1 at the end of five overs with Colin Munro and Kane Williamson looking to build a partnership following the dismissal of Martin Guptill early on.

Mohammad Amir has struck off the first delivery of his spell with New Zealand 5/1 after just seven deliveries. Martin Guptill departs for 5 runs off four deliveries following an inside edge which goes on to hit the stumps.

Both the sides are on the field and are set for the national anthem ceremony. Action is set to begin shortly.

New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson has won the toss and opted to bat. Both the sides are fielding unchanged sides. 

The toss has been delayed for the crucial clash between New Zealand and Pakistan in Birmingham. Pakistan need to register a win at any cost in order to stay alive in the tournament. New Zealand, on the other hand, have more or less qualified for the semi-finals of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.
