In order to stay alive in the ongoing 2019 edition of the International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup, Sri Lanka will look to seal the victory against South Africa in their crucial clash of the mega event at the Riverside Cricket Stadium on Friday. The Faf du Plessis, on the other hand, are out of contention for a spot in the semi-finals, having sealed just one win from seven games. However, they will look to make their presence felt and play for pride when they take on Sri Lanka. 

South Africa skipper Faf du Plessis won the toss and opted to field first in the 35th match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 at Riverside Ground, Chester-le-Street on Friday. Skipper Dimuth Karunaratne and Kusal Perera will open the innings for Sri Lanka, while fast bowler Kagiso Rabada will begin the proceedings for South Africa. 

 

 

Avishka Fernando departs for 30 after being caught by South African skipper Faf du Plessis at mid-off on the fifth delivery of the 10th over by Dwaine Pretorius.

 

Fast bowler Kagiso Rabada gives the breakthrough to South Africa as early as in the very first ball. Sri Lanka skipper Dimuth Karunaratne fended off a back of the length ball straight to South African captain Faf du Plessis at second slip to depart for a duck.

Hashim Amla brought up an ODI half-century off just 56 balls during South Africa's chase of 204-run target against Sri Lanka. 

South African skipper Faf du Plessis smashed his third half-century of the 2019 ICC World Cup during his side's clash against Sri Lanka. He reached his 35th ODI fifty off 70 balls. 

Skipper Faf du Plessis (96) and opener Hashim Amla (80) shared a huge unbeaten stand of 175 runs to guide South Africa to a nine-wicket win over Sri Lanka in the 35th match of the 2019 International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup at the Riverside Ground in Chester-le-Stree on Friday.
