IPL 2022 mega auction FAQs: Team Purse, rules, marquee list, all you need to know

IPL 2022 auction will begin at 12pm on February 12 and 13 at the Hotel ITC Gardenia in Bengaluru. It is the 15th IPL auction and the fifth mega auction, with the last big one held in 2018. The auction will be broadcast on the Star Sports network in India and available on live stream on Disney+ Hotstar website and app.

The marquee set of players will be the first one to be brought up in front of the 10 franchises. The set includes players like: Ravichandran Ashwin, Trent Boult, Pat Cummins, Quinton de Kock, Shikhar Dhawan, Faf du Plessis, Shreyas Iyer, Kagiso Rabada, Mohammed Shami and David Warner. Former Mumbai Indians wicketkeeper batter Ishan Kishan will be part of 'Capped' wicketkeeper list. The order has been decided via specialisation of these players. Batters will be the first ones to be up for auction, while all-rounders, wicket-keeper batters, fast bowlers and spin bowlers will follow respectively. On the first day, only 161 players will go under the hammer. On the second day, the accelerated process will start, seeing the remaining 429 players being put up for sale too. (Source: Twitter)

A total of 229 capped players, 354 of which will be uncapped and 7 players from the Associate teams will go under the hammer. The 10 teams will need to fill up maximum of 25 players in their squad, including 8 overseas cricketers inside a budget of Rs 90 crore. (Source: Twitter)
