Indian Army`s beacon of light: ISRO confirms Cartosat 2C`s pictorial play in India`s surgical strikes!
According to a report in the Times of India (TOI), ground images for this operation were provided by Cartosat 2C.
New Delhi: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is not only making waves in space, but also being a huge asset to the nation by helping out the Indian military services.
After the Indian Army carried out its laudable surgical strikes across LoC on Thursday, September 29, ISRO remained tight-lipped on its role in the attack.
Now, however, two scientists from the space organisation have confirmed that the recently launched Cartosat 2C satellite had a lot to do with the Indian Army decimating seven terror launch pads across the border.
According to a report in the Times of India (TOI), ground images for this operation were provided by Cartosat 2C.
The data provided for the surgical strike was reportedly the first time that Cartosat 2C was used to provide high-resolution images of certain areas.
As per the TOI report, the Cartosat 2C images helped with narrowing down the locations for the strikes. A satellite like the Cartosat 2C has, in addition to several other capabilities, a high-resolution camera that can even detect illegal mining. And Pakistan has just two such satellites – both of which are loaned to them – the scientists said.
A source also told TOI that while (s)he cannot confirm whether Cartosat-2C images were provided to the Army for the surgical strikes of September 29, what can be confirmed is that the satellite's images "are meant for this purpose and the army has used this" in other cases.
