Australia had already pocketed the bilateral 5-match ODI series prior to the game, and the 4-1 final score will bring some much needed relief to the Indian camp. Just like the previous affairs, this game too had mammoth scores and in the end India managed to chase down Australia's 331-run-target with six wickets in hand.

Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma started India's chase in supreme fashion as India dictated proceedings with boundaries coming at ease. In no time 100 runs were scored, and Dhawan led the proceedings with some effortless hitting against the Aussie pacers. Finally it was John Hastings once again, who broke the partnership, and Dhawan (78) off just 56 deliveries had set the platform. By then India were positioned at 123/1.

Virat Kohli came to the crease and the Aussies ensured they had a plan against him early on and that worked. Hastings got Kohli too fending a nick straight to Matthew Wade. Rohit got into the act and started finding the gap as youngster Manish Pandey looking to be positive from the start made his efforts get counted. The duo stitched a partnership of 97 runs to keep India in the hunt.

Rohit had a big lifeline when Shaun Marsh dropped him when he was on 92. But that didn't prove to be that costly as the opening batsman got out to Hastings seven runs for 99. He missed his 3rd ODI ton of the series.

Manish Pandey wasn't going to stop there as he ensured he got the important runs under pressure. With Mahendra Singh Dhoni taking time at the start of his innings, Pandeys's composure proved handy for the Indians. With the skipper, he managed to get the runs flowing before the former hold out to David Warner for a simple catch after hitting a six.

The match by then was almost in India's pocket as Pandey struck a four and a brace to seal a famous win for the visitors.

Earlier, Australia lost four quick wickets for 117 runs as David Warner continued from where he left off in Canberra. Warner struck a majestic century and with Mitchell Marsh stitched a valuable 118 runs partnership. Warner left after a blazing 122-run-knock but Marsh continued to excel.

Matthew Wade chipped in with some much needed runs and Marsh kept his sheen hitting the Indian bowlers at the death to bring up his maiden ton. Australia ensured that they managed to post a maamoth 330/7 on the board.

For the Indians, Jasprit Bumrah excelled in his debut match finishing with 2/40. Ishant too picked two wickets as the others looked ordinary.
