India lost their second consecutive match of the ODI series despite posting a score in excess of 300 runs and Rohit Sharma notching up successive tons.

Speaking to NDTV, Gavskar said that the side needs a little bit of that extra performance which can take it over the line. Unfortunately the visiotrs haven't been able to find that person in recent times.

"You need a little bit of extra performance which takes you over the line. Unfortunately India has not been able to find that magical person in recent times. This is an area where India is floundering at the moment. They also missed out a couple of catching opportunities," he said.

Gavaskar also wasn't impressed with skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni's batting form in the ongoing ODI series against Australia.

Gavaskar stated that Dhoni used to be the finisher but is struggling to find his feet now. He also cited that the reason behind that was not playing regularly. He also said that Dhoni cannot be singled out.

"He used to be the finisher, India's pride and world's envy but he is struggling a bit now. It is tough when you are not playing regularly, it can affect your performance. I don't think we can single him.”
