Syrians stage yet another pro-regime rally
The uprising against Bashar Assad is the most serious threat to his family`s four-decade dynasty.
Beirut: State-run Syrian TV is broadcasting footage of another massive pro-regime gathering in support of President Bashar Assad as authorities try to galvanise supporters in the face of a seven-month uprising.
Thousands took to the streets on Thursday in the coastal city of Latakia, carrying Syrian flags and chanting in support of reform measures that Assad recently proclaimed. The large turnout was the second in as many days, after a similar rally Wednesday in the capital, Damascus. The uprising against Assad is the most serious threat to his family`s four-decade dynasty. Protest leaders reject any dialogue with the regime while it continues its brutal crackdown, which the UN says has killed more than 3,000 people since March.
